Smart Manufacturing and Workforce Leadership
Case Prompt:
“A mid-sized manufacturing firm specializing in automated robotics integration for warehouse logistics is facing increasing labor shortages, rising automation costs, and regulatory changes in workplace safety. The company is exploring how to integrate smart manufacturing solutions while maintaining workforce stability and training employees for advanced roles. Your team must develop a strategic recommendation that balances technological implementation, financial feasibility, and workforce leadership considerations.”
Students will be expected to provide:
- Technical Feasibility Analysis – Engineers and tech students assess potential solutions for automation and smart manufacturing.
- Business & Financial Viability – Management students analyze return on investment and implementation costs.
- Workforce Leadership Plan – Teams must outline a plan for employee reskilling, job security, and leadership development in an evolving industry.
This case will challenge teams to consider the balance between technology-driven efficiency and human capital investment, requiring a multi-disciplinary approach to problem-solving.
