Bylaws of the Journal of Industrial Technology Board
The new bylaws of the new Journal of Industrial Technology Board were approved by the NAIT Executive Board in November 2005, the result of the efforts of the JIT Steering Committee appointed by NAIT's Executive Board in November 2003 to recommend changes to further professionalize and upgrade the JIT. The bylaws include a governing structure for an independent JIT Board, and sections dealing with an editorial panel, reviewers, topical guidelines, and information on the review process. The NAIT Executive Board appointed Dr. Charles Patrick, as Chair of the JIT Board.

Submission and Review Process Information
Please read the JIT Manuscript Guidelines
prior to submitting a paper. Authors must be NAIT members in order to have papers considered for publication. Authors may use the traditional hard-copy submission and review process for peer-refereed papers; all non-reviewed submissions are submitted and considered via the hard-copy process. (Note: The electronic review process has been temporarily suspended as of 12/9/05.) Papers that do not comply with submission requirements will be returned to the author.
The JIT uses a double-blind peer-referee process for "reviewed" papers with each such paper having been submitted to a panel of three reviewers for comment and criticism. The cover page of each JIT article that is published after a paper has been accepted after successfully completing the review process denotes the published article as "peer-refereed".
Hard Copy Submission & Review Process:
The traditional hard-copy review process for the JIT starts with submission of your paper in hard copy form to NAIT.
- Click to view the JIT Manuscript Guidelines and find out how to format and submit a paper.
- Authors must be NAIT members before the review process will be started. See the Membership section to use the electronic membership form.
- Papers that do not conform to submission guidelines will be returned to the author.
- The review process commonly takes six months to one year.
Electronic Submission & Review Process:
The electronic review process was suspended as of 12/9/05 while changes are made to the JIT submission and review process. We expect the JIT to transition fully to a completely electronic submission and review process by November 1, 2006. Please submit your paper via the traditional hard copy review process for the time being.

JIT Reviewers
The reviewers for the Journal of Industrial Technology come from the ranks of industrial technology and technology management professionals at academic institutions throughout the United States. All reviewers have at least five years of post-graduate experience and are assigned papers for review within their areas of expertise.
JIT Reviewers Roster: Current membership and institutional affiliations of the JIT Reviewers.
Individuals interested in serving as a JIT Reviewer should contact the JIT Administrator, Dave Monforton, at the NAIT office for more information.
JIT Review Process Summary:
- Papers submitted by authors for peeer-review are first vetted to determine if they meet topical, content and format thresholds for the review process.
- Papers that are deemed to meet the thresholds are then entered into the review process and sent to three JIT reviewers for double-blind peer-review.
- Reviews are due back from reviewers within 30 days.
- Based upon the reviews, the JIT Administrator and Editorial Panel determine if a paper should be rejected, revised or accepted.
- If the decision is that a paper should be revised and returned for a second review, the paper is sent back to authors, who are given 60 days to complete revisions and return the revised paper.
- Upon submission of a revised paper, the paper is again reviewed by the same review panel, and reviewers again have 30 days to complete their review.
- Generally, most papers are recommended for revision and are reviewed twice; occasionally, a paper is deemed to requrie a 2nd revision and is reviewed a third and usually final time upon submission of the second revision.
- Papers submiited for consideraton for "non-reviewed" publication are assigned to one reviewer for a recommendation on publication based on interest in the topic and readability of the paper.
- Final decisions on acceptance or rejection of all papers submitted to the JIT are currently made by the JIT Administrator, Dave Monforton; in the fall of 2006, the transition will be complete and all final decisions will be made by the JIT Editorial Panel.
