Raymond Keil

Born: August 26, 1932, Peoria, Illinois; B.S. degree from Bradley University in 1955, M.S. degree from the University of Arkansas in 1956, and Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 1966; Taught Industrial Arts and Mathematics in the public schools of Jackson, Michigan from 1956-58; Taught Industrial Technology at Bradley University (1959-66), Indiana State University (1966-68), and the University of Wisconsin Stout (1968-93).

While at the University of Wisconsin Stout he served at the Director of the Industrial Technology Program (1968-81), Coordinator of the Plant Engineering Concentration (1970-93), and Chair of the Industrial Management Department (1969-73); He was a member of the American Society of Engineering Education, the American Production and Inventory Control, International Materials Management Society, the American Society of Industrial Technology, the International Technology Education Association, the American Council on Technology Teacher Education, Phi Delta Kappa, Epsilon Pi Tau, and the National Association of Industrial Technology.

He received the NAIT Presidents Citation Award in 1985, the Twin Cities AIPE Chapter 13 Service Award, the NAIT Region 2 Outstanding Professor Award in 1987, was voted by the membership as an Honorary Lifetime Member of NAIT in 1987, recognized as one of the "Founding Fathers" of NAIT in 1988, appointed to the Hormel Professorship at the University of Wisconsin Stout from 1991-93, received the NAIT Exemplary Service Award in 1993, received the Recognition Service Plaque for 23 years of service as Faculty Advisor to the Stout Student Chapter in 1993, received the Service Recognition Certificate from the AFE Certification Board in 1996, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Facility Engineers in 1998.

Dr. Keil served on the original steering committee from 1965-67 that led to the formation of NAIT, served as the second President of NAIT in 1968-69, served as the chair of two NAIT annual conventions in 1968 and 1974, served on numerous NAIT committees and boards, made significant and continuous contributions to the NAIT Accreditation program as Chair of the NAIT Standards and Accreditation Committee from 1975-1988, and served as a member of approximately 75 NAIT accreditation on-site visiting teams.
